Photo of a woman's hand filling out a form with a penInterested applicants must use the Electronic Residency Application Service.  Emailed and faxed applications are not accepted. Applicants registered with the National Residency Match Program receive preferred consideration.  We continue to review applications until all available positions are filled.  

General Requirements of All Applicants

  • Only applications received through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) will be considered, no exceptions.
  • Applications are received through ERAS through January 15th of each year for consideration of entry into the program on July 1 of each year.
  •  Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Letters of recommendations must be submitted from the author, must be dated, and must not be more than two years old.
  • A letter of recommendation must be written by the program director at each residency program you have participated with and must not be more than two years old.  
  • Applicants with more than three attempts on any step of the USMLE will not be considered as they cannot be licensed in Texas. 
  • Our program begins in the PGY-2 year.  Every applicant must successfully complete a clinical PGY-1 year with at least 11 months of direct patient care in the inpatient or outpatient setting at an ACGME accredited program within the United States prior to entering our program.
  • Every applicant without a PGY-1 experience as noted above needs to apply simultaneously for a transitional or preliminary year residency program.

Graduates of Accredited US Medical Schools (MD or DO)

  • You must apply through your school via the ERAS system, no exceptions.
  • Your applications must include curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation, transcript, dean's letters, USMLE test scores or COMPLEX scores and personal statement.
  • You must have successfully completed Step 1 and Step 2 CK and CS.
  • Although we do not have set minimum USMLE requirements, the overall score and the number of attempts needed to pass each step will be taken into consideration.

Graduates of Foreign Medical Schools

  • You must apply through ERAS. No emailed or faxed applications will be accepted, no exceptions.
  • You must be ECFMG certified at the time of application and possess a valid certificate.
  • You application must include curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation, medical school transcript, dean's letters, and USMLE test scores or COMPLEX score and personal statement.
  • You must have successfully completed the USMLE step 1, USMLE Step 2 CK and the USMLE Step 2 CS exams.
  • Although we do not have set minimum USMLE requirements, the overall score and the number of attempts needed to pass each step will be taken into consideration.
  • Applicants who graduated more than 3 years ago are rarely considered for interview unless they have been actively practicing medicine (not observerships or research) and are fully licensed.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Your school must be listed on the Texas Medical Board's list of Medical Schools with "substantial equivalence".
