Breast and Cervical Cancer Clinical Workgroup

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS) program is soliciting applications to fill vacant positions on the Breast and Cervical Cancer Clinical Workgroup.  The purpose of the workgroup is to advise the DSHS BCCS program on strategic planning, services development and revision of policy, and rules related to breast and cervical cancer screening, follow-up and diagnosis. 

Workgroup members are selected for three-year terms and the workgroup meets up to three times per year, either in person or by teleconference.

The workgroup has nine members.  Members may include one or two of the following:

  • Pathologist
  • medical oncologist
  • radiation oncologist
  • radiologist
  • physician with expertise in the delivery of breast and/or cervical cancer screening, follow-up, diagnosis or treatment
  • nurse or advance practice nurse involved in the delivery of breast and/or cervical cancer screening, follow-up, diagnosis or treatment
  • other persons with significant involvement in the delivery of breast and/or cervical cancer screening, follow-up, diagnosis or treatment

Draft Policy on LEEP and LEEP Conization Procedures

BCCS is instituting a policy allowing contractors to request reimbursement for complications resulting from LEEP and LEEP conization procedures.  Please download and review the draft policy, and submit comments and/or questions to BCCSProgram@dshs.state.tx.us by the close of business on Friday, April 5, 2013.

Calls are held quarterly to discuss operations of the program. Agendas, meeting notes, and evaluations are distributed by e-mail to contractors.
