Goals:

  • Develop strategies to measure and enhance program effectiveness to increase the impact of public health services on the needs of border communities served by DSHS programs.
  • Identify effective intervention models to strengthen public health services so that participants engaged in DSHS-supported programs consistently find satisfaction, meaning, and opportunity.

Evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of outcome-based border health services.

Activities Include:

  • Border and binational data analysis
  • Program evaluation
  • Activity evaluation
  • Quality assurance / quality improvement activities

Outcomes (short term):

  • Increased ability to define and measure outcomes to address border health issues of common concern
  • Enhancement of program effectiveness

Outcomes (medium term):

Increase the impact of public health services on the needs of border communities served by DSHS programs

Outcomes (long term):

Contributes to Improved health of populations along the Texas Mexico border

Support research and demonstrations to gain new insights and innovative solutions to border health problems

Activities Include:

  • Research and monitoring about the effects of the changing public health environment and unique strategies employed by public health agencies
  • Methods development
  • Research evidence based public health interventions for use as border program models

Outcomes (short term):

Increased documentation of best practices to facilitate and enhance public health agencies and partners interventions

Outcomes (medium term):

Increase % of border health best practices and ability to satisfy border community needs

Outcomes (long term):

Contributes to Improved health of populations along the Texas Mexico border
