Licensing Board and Data Source: Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) - The TSBEP adopts rules for the regulation of persons wishing to practice as Psychologists in Texas. The board issues four types of licenses:
Licensed Psychologist
Provisionally Licensed Psychologist
Licensed Psychological Associate
Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
Below are tables for each specific license type, as well as tables for All Psychologists - Unduplicated Count. A Psychologist may hold more than one type of license, and therefore may be included in more than one of the specific license type tables. The Unduplicated Count table contains the total number of licensees for that year; however, duplicate records (for example a person who is included in the Licensed Psychologist table and the Licensed Specialist in School Psychology table) have been removed, so each licensee is counted only once. The Unduplicated Count table best represents the total number of licensees; however, the scope of practice may be different for the different license types and one of the more specific tables may be more appropriate to use, depending on for what use the data are intended. Please direct "scope of practice" inquiries to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Note: Many agencies that certify or license health professionals collect only a licensee's mailing address for correspondence purposes. The mailing (RESIDENCE) address may be either the work or home address of the licensee. If available, the HPRC county totals for each profession are based on the PRACTICE address from licensure data, and from the mailing/residence address if the practice address is not available. Therefore, when the mailing/residence address is used, the county supply totals may not accurately reflect the actual supply in a county since a professional may live in one county but practice in another.
Please contact the Health Professions Resource Center at (512) 776-7261 or contact us by email if you have any comments or questions about the above licensing board information or supply tables.
