County Supply and Distribution Tables - Psychiatrists

Loading...

Licensing Board and Data Source: Texas Medical Board (TMB) - The TMB adopts rules for the regulation of persons wishing to practice as Psychiatrists in Texas.

The following tables include all active and non-federal Psychiatrists (Medical Doctors and Doctors of Osteopathy) practicing in Texas. Tables include child and adult Psychiatrists. Residents and fellows, teachers, administrators, researchers, federal, military, retired and "not-in-practice" Psychiatrists are excluded from the supply totals. Locum Tenens psychiatrists are also excluded.

Note: Psychiatry is a Medical specialty and Psychiatrists are a subset of Direct Patient Care Physicians. Therefore, the Psychiatrists reported in these tables are also included in the tables for Direct Patient Care Physicians.

For more information on Physician data collection methods, please see Physician File Preparation Methodology.

Information regarding the education requirements, licensure requirements, and responsibilities of physicians can be found on the website of the Texas Medical Board at http://www.tmb.state.tx.us/.

*Note: Due to changes in the methodology of the file preparation, Researchers and Faculty were counted (for the first time in 2008) if they also indicated Direct Medical/Patient Care. This resulted in approximately an additional 30 records (all Faculty) above the usual yearly increase. For more information, see Physician File Preparation Methodology.

Note:  Many agencies that certify or license health professionals collect only a licensee's mailing address for correspondence purposes. The mailing (RESIDENCE) address may be either the work or home address of the licensee. If available, the HPRC county totals for each profession are based on the PRACTICE address from licensure data, and from the mailing/residence address if the practice address is not available.  Therefore, when the mailing/residence address is used, the county supply totals may not accurately reflect the actual supply in a county since a professional may live in one county but practice in another.
