Texas Primary Care Office - works with health care providers to improve access to care for the underserved, by recruiting and retaining National Health Service Corps (NHSC) providers to practice in Federally-designated shortage areas. The office also oversees the J-1 Visa Waiver program. This program removes the requirement that a J-1 visa holder must return to their country of origin for two years at the end of his/her graduate medical training. The waiver allows the J-1 visa holder to remain in the United States if they agree to practice in a Federally-designated shortage area.

General Benefits for providers who agree to practice in Federal Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs).
