*NOTE: This report indicates that there were 5,359 ACTIVE Texas Dentists in 1976. However, since this total is much higher than in later years, there were probably no dentist records excluded from the total. In following years the only dentists included in the tables were those with a practice type of "general dentistry, pediatric dentistry and dental public health," and dentists with a practice description of "private practice". In later years federal, faculty and other government dentists were excluded, as were the dental specialists.
