Includes all active physicians with a Texas practice address and practicing in one of five direct patient care specialties: pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, internal medicine, family practice, and general practice. Excludes: Federal physicians, residents, and fellows. Most of the physicians were categorized by the county of practice address. The county was determined based on the zip code. If the practice address was unavailable, the mailing address was used to determine the county.
