Includes: all active physicians with a Texas practice address and practicing in one of 5 direct patient care specialties: general pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, general internal medicine, family practice and general practice. Excludes: Federal physicians, residents and fellows (1211 records).

Most of the physicians were categorized by the county of practice address. The county was determined based on the zip code. If the practice address was unavailable, the mailing address was used to determine the county.
