Includes: active adult, child, addiction, forensic, and geriatric Psychiatrists with Texas practice addresses and a practice type of direct patient care. TMB added categories for addiction, forensic, and geriatric Psychiatrists beginning in 2007. Prior to that, those persons were likely included in the adult psychiatrist category. Excludes: federal/military psychiatrists, those involved primarily in research or administration, and residents and fellows. Of the 1,687 Psychiatrists, 188 were Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, 5 were Forensic Psychiatrists, 5 were Geriatric Psychiatrists, and 1 was an Addiction Psychiatrist. Note: Psychiatry is a Medical specialty and Psychiatrists are a subset of Direct Patient Care Physicians. Therefore, the Psychiatrists reported in this table are also included in the table for Direct Patient Care Physicians.
