TMB added categories for addiction, forensic, and geriatric Psychiatrists beginning in 2007. Prior to that, those persons were likely included in the adult psychiatrist category. Excludes: federal/military psychiatrists, those involved primarily in research or administration, and residents and fellows. Of the 1,687 Psychiatrists, 188 were Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, 5 were Forensic Psychiatrists, 5 were Geriatric Psychiatrists, and 1 was an Addiction Psychiatrist. Note: Psychiatry is a Medical specialty and Psychiatrists are a subset of Direct Patient Care Physicians. Therefore, the Psychiatrists reported in this table are also included in the table for Direct Patient Care Physicians.
