Committee on Requests for Personal Data (CORPD)
Overview
The Committee on Requests for Personal Data (CORPD) reviews personal data requests involving birth and death records/certificates. The CORPD reviews all requests to determine if the research serves a valid scientific or public health purpose.
The Data Item Checklists available below, can be used to identify which data items are considered “sensitive.” To request electronic data files which include any “sensitive” vital statistics data, call the Department of State Health Services, Center for Health Statistics at (512) 776-2154, or toll-free at 1-866-239-7279, and ask for the Data Management Supervisor. After discussing your needs and getting an overview of the procedure, you will need to submit a combination of applications to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Committee on Requests for Personal Data (CORPD). The IRB application and the CORPD application are to be used in combination when requesting vital statistics data.
One original and 16 copies (copies double-sided, no staples) of the Applications and relevant Data Item Checklist(s) should be submitted to the Program Contact
