Texas Health Steps Provider Education Modules http://txhealthsteps.com/

Texas Health Steps offers free online continuing education courses designed to enhance providers’ abilities related to preventive health, mental health, oral health & case management services to Medicaid eligible children in Texas. The online modules are accredited for Continuing Education for Texas physicians, nurses, health education specialists, social workers, and registered sanitarians. The majority of the online modules have now been approved as DSHS-certified continuing education for community health workers.

See list for modules approved as DSHS-certified continuing education for community health workers. Modules related to physician referral guidelines, pharmacy, and specimen collection are not approved as DSHS-certified continuing education for community health workers.

Registration/Enrollment

Online registration/enrollment at http://txhealthsteps.com/

  1. Create a Texas Health Steps account.
  2. Complete the on-line registration process. Select Community Health Worker/Promotor(a) from the drop down box for your title/profession/discipline. This will ensure that you will receive the certificate of completion developed specifically for community health workers/promotores.
  3. Complete the online pre-test.
  4. Thoroughly read the content of the module.
  5. Complete the on-line post-test.
  6. Complete the evaluation.
  7. Print the certificate. Save the certificate to send in with your CHW renewal application

Language – THSteps provider online modules are offered in English only.
Teaching materials – text, video, website links
Evaluation - Pre/post tests – each module has a specific pre and post test. Participants must complete at least 75% of post test questions correctly to receive credit/certificate of completion.
Additional Information: Modules are designed by Texas Health Steps for medical providers and contain medical terminology and intermediate or advanced curriculum. Modules are available in English only.
