Issue permits to qualified applicants
Investigate complaints against permit holders
Regulation and enforcement of contact lens dispensers who hold a permit
Refer consumers to the appropriate agency for answering questions or filing complaints that do not come within the authority of Texas Department of State Health Services: Texas State Board of Medical Examiners (ophthalmologists), Texas State Board of Pharmacy (pharmacists), and Texas Optometry Board (optometrists and therapeutic optometrists)
