Welcome to the web site of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors! We are pleased to offer access to our law, rules, disciplinary actions, roster of licensed professional counselors, licensing forms, and other useful information for consumers and professionals. We are also pleased to offer a resource page for professional counselors that includes links to several Texas statutes that may affect the provision of counseling services. We hope you will visit the site often to update and refresh your understanding of the regulation of professional counseling services in Texas.
The Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors is a nine-member, Governor-appointed state board with rulemaking and enforcement authority. Our primary mission is protection and promotion of the public health and welfare. We also serve licensed professional counselors through our licensure activities. The board and its committees usually meet three times each year. Our meetings are always posted in advance in the Texas Register and are open to the public. We invite you to attend our meetings when we are in Austin, or perhaps meeting in your part of the state.
The board and staff welcome your input, comments, concerns, and suggestions by letter, telephone, e-mail, or fax. We want to hear from you on all issues of concern you may have as a consumer, stakeholder, or provider of counseling services. If you hope to become licensed as a Texas professional counselor, we welcome you. We hope to be available to facilitate a smooth transition from student to licensed professional counselor intern to licensed professional counselor.
