FDA Proposes New Food Safety Standards for Foodborne Illness Prevention and Produce Safety
The FDA today proposed two new food safety rules that help prevent foodborne illness. The proposed rules implement the landmark, bipartisan FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and are available for public comment for the next 120 days. The FDA encourages Americans to review and comment on these important proposed rules.

The Executive Commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission, on behalf of the Department of State Health Services (department), proposes the §§231.1 - 231.4 concerning requests for information or official determination on food regulation.

Comments on the proposal may be submitted to Lewis Ressler, Foods Group, Policy, Standards and Quality Assurance Unit, Environmental and Consumer Safety Section, Division for Regulatory Services, P.O.
