To find out what disciplines may obtain free CE credit through Grand Rounds, see Continuing Education.
If you are registering for continuing education credit or a certificate of attendance, you must register in TRAIN Texas (DSHS learning management system). It closes at 11:00 a.m. on the day of the session and it is best if participants register by 5:00 p.m. the day before a session. However, if you were not able to register and would still like to participate, you may either:
- Attend the event in the Lecture Hall (K-100) in Austin after signing in (see map);
- Participate in a webinar at a pre-established webinar group viewing location after signing in with the session monitor; or
- Participate in a webinar at a personal computer with an individual who has already registered. You will need to have them type your name into the webinar question box at the beginning of the session.
For detailed instructions about participating via webinar see Webinar Instructions (.pdf). See also Accessing TRAIN Texas and Frequently Asked Questions and TRAIN Texas Quick Reference Guide (.pdf).
The presentation slides and handouts are available for downloading from the Grand Rounds website at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/grandrounds/presentations.shtm the evening before each presentation.
Recorded webinars will be available on the Grand Rounds website at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/grandrounds/presentations.shtm the day after the live presentation. They cannot be viewed for continuing education credit. Currently, CE credit is available only to participants who attend the live event in K-100 or via live webinar.
Question and Answer Period (remote sites)
There will be a question and answer period at the end of each presentation.
Please send in questions throughout the presentation by either:
Continuing Education Credits and Certificate of Attendance
Individuals requesting continuing education hours or wanting a certificate of attendance must register in TRAIN Texas; arrive within 10 minutes of the start of a presentation and remain in attendance for the full time; have their attendance verified; and complete the mandatory evaluation within two weeks after the presentation. Free Continuing Education (1.5) Credits vary per session. (CME, CNE, SW, CHES, RS, MFT, LCDC, LPC, Certificate of Attendance)

Attendance Verification for CE Credit and Certificate of Attendance in TRAIN
Attendance is verified from the sign in sheets at pre-established webinar group viewing locations or the Lecture Hall (K-100, Austin). Those who participated in an individual webinar will have their attendance verified by the DSHS webinar organizer and DSHS CE Service.
In TRAIN Texas, please do not click on the “Manage or M" button and mark the course "Completed". CE Services is solely responsible for the verification of attendance for Grand Rounds sessions. If someone other than CE Services marks an attendee “completed”, it could jeopardize the awarding of continuing education credits for that attendee. See also Accessing TRAIN Texas and Frequently Asked Questions and TRAIN Texas Quick Reference Guide (.pdf).
Evaluations for CE Credit and Certificate of Attendance in TRAIN
Once attendance verification has occurred (usually by the Friday following the presentation), the attendee may complete the course evaluation.
- Log in to TRAIN Texas and the hyperlink "There are pending evaluations!" should appear in the upper right under the DSHS logo. (Alternatively, the attendee may go to "My Learning" in TRAIN Texas and click on the course hyperlink "Completed, but an evaluation is pending.")
- Complete the course evaluation.
Participants who are not requesting CE credit or a certificate of attendance may email their presentation comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. See also Accessing TRAIN Texas and Frequently Asked Questions and TRAIN Texas Quick Reference Guide (.pdf).
Certificate of Attendance
After completing the course evaluation, the attendee's new certificate becomes available through the "Certificates" option under "My Learning Record" on the TRAIN Texas homepage. Open and print the certificate.pdf file. The certificate can also be saved using a new file name. See also Accessing TRAIN Texas and Frequently Asked Questions and TRAIN Texas Quick Reference Guide (.pdf).
