After delivery you may feel many emotions – relief, happiness, exhaustion, anxiety. These feelings are normal. Focus on you, your baby and get the support you need to have a happy healthy home.
Focus on you
Take care of yourself so you can take care of your new family by getting adequate sleep, eating right and getting some exercise. Communicate what you need to those around you so they can better support you.

SIDS – Remember the ABCs of Safe Sleep:
- Alone - Not sleeping with mom, dad, or siblings. No toys, baby bumpers or blankets.
- Back - Not sleeping on their bellies or on their sides.
- Crib – Not sleeping on a sofa, in a parent’s or sibling’s bed.
Babies need Tummy Time – Tummy Time is when the baby is on its belly and being supervised by an adult. The baby learns to use its muscles to hold its head up and use its arms and shoulders for balance.
Get the support you need
Involve Dad – Whether or not you are in a romantic relationship with your baby’s father, it is important to support his involvement with you and your baby. Women with involved partners tend to have better birth outcomes and children with involved fathers do too. Find out more.
