2004 Texas HIV-STD Clinical Update


 The Department of State Health Services (DSHS), in partnership with the Center for Health Training [CHT], and Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education and Training Center (TX/OK AETC) [AETC], hosted the 14th Texas HIV/STD Conference Clinical Update on December 17-18, 2004 at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin, Texas. The goal, objectives, and target audience of the Clinical Update were:

Clinical Update Goal and Objectives
Goal The goal of this conference is to provide the healthcare provider current knowledge, tools and strategies to integrate into practice to enhance the quality of services and improve clinical outcomes for patients with HIV/STDs.

By the end of the Clinical Update, participants will be able to:

  • Identify options for the care and treatment of women with HIV.
  • Discuss substance abuse, medication adherence issues and complex drug interactions.
  • Explain care options for patients with diabetes and lipid disorders.
  • Analyze critically recent trends and STD care and prevention.
Target Audience Physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other clinicians working with HIV/STD affected communities.
