The flu activity level for Texas, week 2, 1/11/04 to 1/17/04, is regional. Regional means there is increased influenza-like illness in two or more, but less than half of the regions in the state, and lab confirmed flu within the past 3 weeks in the affected regions.
Or, regional could mean: Institutional outbreaks (hospitals, schools, long-term care facilities, prisons, etc.), in two or more, but less than half of the regions in the state, and recent lab confirmed flu in the affected regions. Of the 11 public health regions in the state, 5 regions reported positive flu test results during the week 2 reporting period. Influenza A H3 and B continue to circulate.
