2003 - 2004 Texas Influenza Surveillance Information
The flu activity level for Texas, week 45, 11/2/03 to 11/8/03, is widespread.
Widespread means there is increased influenza-like illness (ILI) and/or institutional outbreaks (ILI or lab confirmed) in at least half of the regions and recent lab confirmed influenza in the state.
There are 11 public health regions in Texas and during week 45, influenza/ILI activity has been identified in 7 of those regions.
During this reporting week, influenza A and/or undifferentiated flu has been identified in Bastrop, Bell, Brazoria, Brazos, Eastland, Kerr, Lubbock, Harris, McLennan, Tom Green, Walker, and Williamson counties.
Increased absenteeism rates have been reported from school districts in Kaufman and El Paso counties.
