2004 - 2005 Texas Influenza Surveillance Information
Influenza activity in Texas for the week ending May 13, is No Activity. This does not mean there is no flu activity, just low levels. There is no culture confirmed influenza to report in the state. Laboratory submissions have dropped significantly.
The Sentinel Provider Surveillance Network indicates ILI activity for last week at 2.96%, or about baseline levels. Providers are reminded that specimens may be submitted to the DSHS laboratory. Contact Irene Brown, SPSN coordinator at 512 458-7676 for details.
Region 8 reports activity remained about the same as the previous week. All other regions report decreased or no activity.
Flu activity reports will continue to be made through week 20 (ending 5/21). Please continue to report unusual activity of respiratory illness and consider the submission of specimens to the DSHS lab. There is only one week left to go in flu season.
