2005 - 2006 Texas Influenza Surveillance Information
The flu activity level for CDC week 46 ending November 19, 2005 is sporadic. Activity has remained the same from the previous week.
Limited influenza activity was reported in all Health Service Regions for week 46. Four HSRs (1, 7, 8, and 11) report an increased level of activity over the previous week. For a map of Health Service Regions, please visit the following website:

Three new specimens have been confirmed by the DSHS lab to be influenza A. Two were from 13 year- olds residing in Dallas. One of those isolates has been subtyped and found to be A/H3N2. The other Dallas isolate is still in the process of being subtyped. The third isolate was from a 23 year-old residing in San Antonio and was also shown to be A/H3N2.
Data from the Sentinel Provider Surveillance Network (SPSN) indicates only a slight increase in influenza-like illness (ILI) from the previous week (Week 45).
