2005 - 2006 Texas Influenza Surveillance Information
The flu activity level for the week ending December 10, 2005 is sporadic. Activity has remained low across the state.
Limited influenza activity was reported in 10 of the 11 Health Service Regions (HSR) for week 49. One HSR did not report. Four HSRs (1, 4/5N, 8 and 9/10) report an increased level of activity over the previous week. For a map of Health Service Regions, please visit the following website:

During week 49, the DSHS lab confirmed (by culture) two cases of influenza A from Starr County. Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston also reported a culture confirmed case of influenza A.
Data from the Sentinel Provider Surveillance Network (SPSN) indicates a steady rise in influenza-like illness (ILI). However, numbers will most likely change as reports for week 49 continue to come in.
