Overview
The EpiLink accepts manuscripts that adhere to the mission and purpose of the publication: to provide public health and healthcare professionals accurate, practical, and updated information about important public health issues in Texas.
Who can submit manuscripts
Public and private healthcare professionals, local health department officials, Department of State Health Services program staff, federal officers placed in local, regional, and state public health offices, and other public health professionals are welcome to submit manuscripts for consideration.
What kind of articles can be submitted
There are many types of formats that are appropriate for the contents and intended audience of this publication: case reports, case studies, reviews, surveillance summaries, annual reports, historical accounts, and so on. We suggest you read the Instructions for Contributors ( PDF, 31.8KB) for details and browse through the back issues to view the types of articles previously published.
How to submit a manuscript
Electronic submissions are strongly preferred, but printed manuscripts will also be accepted. To consider the manuscript for publication, the editorial staff must receive the following documents.
- Publication Tracking Sheet (
MS Word, 54.5KB): the form can be filled out in Word format and submitted electronically as an attachment or printed and included with mailed copies of the manuscript.
- The manuscript should be sent electronically. If mailed, please include three, double spaced copies. Please bear in mind that the author remains responsible for submitting the final, approved version of the manuscript electronically or on a disk.
- Tables and illustrations. Please do not imbed figures, illustrations, and tables in the text. Send each as a separate file.

What to do before submitting
- Follow the standard protocol of your agency or institution to clear the manuscript for submission.
- Read the Instructions for Contributors (
PDF, 31.8KB) before submitting the manuscript. It contains detailed information about the types of articles accepted and the appropriate format and structure.
- Contact the EpiLink staff if you have any questions.
What is the review process of the manuscript
You will be notified by e-mail when the manuscript is received. During the review process, the author will receive drafts of the manuscript containing editorial comments and proposed changes. The author would then make the appropriate changes and return the manuscript to the editorial staff. Finally, the author will receive a layout proof of the article for approval.
How long until the manuscript gets published
Production includes editing, reviewing by subject matter experts, entering changes to electronic files, layout, proofing, and posting, which usually requires 6 to 10 weeks from the date the manuscript is received. To avoid delays in the process, the authors and contributors are urged to carefully follow the deadlines and instructions of the editorial staff.
