Since 1994, National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance to ensure that infants are fully immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases. We celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and serve as a call to action to parents, caregivers and health-care providers. This year NIIW will be observed April 24 to May 1, 2010. It will join those in the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Eastern Mediterranean to celebrate Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA), European Immunization Week (EIW) and WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) Infant Immunization Week. Over eighty countries will participate.
For more information about NIIW and VWA, visit the CDC website and the USMBHC website.
