your community, including health, mental health and substance abuse
services. The network is also providing 24/7 information regarding
evacuation, sheltering and other general information during the

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services toll-free hotline for
people in crisis in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, 1-800-273-TALK
(1-800-273-8255). Callers to the hotline will receive counseling from
trained staff at the closest certified crisis center in the network.

DSHS Mental Health and Substance Abuse Helpline.
The Helpline serves as an information resource for victims of Katrina
needing public mental health and substance abuse services. Call

rescue efforts in areas impacted by Katrina.
