Effective Monday, November 12, 2012, pharmacies in Texas that have a contract with the Kidney Health Care Program will be able to provide a wider range of blood glucose testing strips, lancets, insulin syringes, and insulin needles to KHC clients. These items have been on the KHC formulary, but limited in scope. When Texas Medicaid begins coverage of these Limited Home Health Supplies (LHHS) on November 12th, all diabetic test strips, lancets, insulin syringes, and insulin needles that will be covered by Medicaid will now be available to KHC clients. All other drug benefit limitations will still apply. More information about this change can be found on the Texas Vendor Drug website at http://www.txvendordrug.com/formulary/limited-hhs.shtml. Effective April 1, 2011, Kidney Health Care (KHC) Program will no longer cover the brand name drug product PhosLo. However, the Program will continue to cover most generic forms of this medication, Calcium Acetate 667mg. Please call our program with any questions about which of these generic brands are covered.

New Kidney Health Care Rules updated 2/18/2010
We have received the acknowledgement from the Texas Register Division approving publication of the Kidney Health Care rules in the February 12, 2010, issue of the Texas Register. The Texas Register publication includes the preamble and rule text for new §61.3, Client Eligibility Requirements, and §61.5, Benefits and Limitations, in accordance with adoption of those sections with changes to the proposed rules.
The rules became effective on February 18, 2010, (20 days after filing on January 29, 2010). Use the HTML table of contents to view the complete rules.

Changes to the Vendor Drug Program - Claims Processing System
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is moving to a new pharmacy claims system. The transition to the new claims system will begin on Dec. 31, 2005. The current claims processing system will end at 12:01 a.m. CST, Dec. 31, 2005. Beginning at noon CST on Dec. 31, 2005, the new claims processing system will be available for prescription drug claims. This change includes drug claims processing for Kidney Health Care and Children with Special Health Care Programs.
