Dear Regional and Local Health Department Directors:
Re: Discontinuing Secondary Notifications of Positive Conditions
Beginning late March 2008, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Laboratory Services Section will be changing computer information systems from COHORT to LabWare. This will be a staggered implementation starting with Serology testing module. The anticipated go-live dates for each module may change as a result of implementation processes. Please check our web site at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/lab/calendarCOHORTtoLabWare.shtm and/or check the bulletin notice during COHORT sign-on for further updates on changes to the anticipated Go-Live dates.
As a result, secondary notifications of positive conditions will no longer be provided to regional and local health departments. Regional and local health departments will need to obtain these results from the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS).
To obtain set-up information and procedures for accessing NEDSS, please contact Doug Hamaker with the Public Health Information Network (PHIN) at 1-888-963-7111 x3274.
If you have any other questions and/or comments, please contact Susan Hoffpauir at 1-888-963-7111 ext. 6030. Thank you for your continued support.
Susan U. Neill, Ph.D., MBA
Director, Laboratory Services Section
