| The mission of the Laboratory Reporting Group is to provide excellent customer service by: |
- performing timely, accurate demographic data entry
- distributing test reports accurately
- responding to submitter requests for information promptly
- assigning identification numbers to health care providers for use when submitting specimens

| Demographic Data Entry |
| The Data Entry Team annually enters the following: |
- 800,000 Newborn Screening specimens
- 120,000 Microbiological specimens (submitted for HIV, serology, tuberculosis, and rabies testing)
- 320,000 Texas Health Steps specimens

| Reporting |
| The Laboratory Reporting Team annually: |
- releases and distributes more than 1,000,000 reports
- responds to approximately 24,000 telephone, email, and fax inquiries from health care professionals
