The Local Authority Network Advisory Committee (LANAC) was established pursuant to requirements of H.B. 2439, 80th Legislature, Regular Session, 2007. The committee advises the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on technical and administrative issues that directly affect local mental health authority responsibilities.
The committee reviews and makes recommendations regarding current and proposed rules, and participates in the negotiated rulemaking process related to local mental health authority operations. The committee advises HHSC and DSHS on the development of a method for contracting with local mental health authorities that result in contracts that are more flexible and responsive to the needs and services of local communities, and, at the same time, fulfill DSHS performance expectations. The committee coordinates with workgroups affecting local mental health authority operations, and also submits a quarterly report to HHSC and DSHS on its activities and recommendations.
