BIG SPRING - Suzanne Markwell is Big Spring State Hospital's January Volunteer of the Month.
Suzanne began her career as a volunteer at Big Spring State Hospital in 1998 putting her skills as an excellent seamstress to immediate use. She delved into the creation of We Care bags, Pillow Pals, and Christmas costumes for the patient nativity program and various other projects.
She continues to chair the patient's Summer Fun Day, has co-chaired the Valentine’s Day fundraiser, and is a member of the Cars and Stars committee. She also attends all state and regional Volunteer Services Council meetings.
Alley Kat Designs will donate a rose bud vase to Markwell in her honor.
Big Spring State Hospital's Community Relations office chooses a volunteer of the month from the hospital's approximately 100 volunteers. Each month, a volunteer who goes above and beyond what is expected of him or her is chosen for the recognition.
