Chalet Resale Shop Closed Thursday, Possibly Friday for Bad Weather
BIG SPRING – The Chalet Resale Shop, a secondhand clothing and small household shop operated by the Volunteer Services Council of Big Spring State Hospital, will close Thursday and possibly Friday because of anticipated bad weather.
“We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Billie Christie, Big Spring State Hospital Director of Community Relations. “But with the cold weather expected at the end of this week, we thought it best that our volunteers not get out or have customers get out as well.”
The Chalet Resale Shop, 115 East 2nd Street, will reopen Saturday during its regularly scheduled hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Shop is open 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations are accepted during hours of operation.
This past year, the more than 75 volunteers donated more than 4,900 hours, generating $290,136 for the hospital’s patients. All money raised at The Chalet is used for patient needs at Big Spring State Hospital.
Big Spring State Hospital is a 200-bed psychiatric hospital serving people with mental illness in West Texas – stretching from El Paso to San Angelo, Abilene and Lubbock.
