Directions to North Texas State Hospital-Vernon Campus
From the Dallas/Ft-Worth-Wichita Falls Area or the Amarillo Area
- Enter Vernon on U.S. 287
Exit at U.S. 70 (toward Crowell/Plainview)
Turn west off the overpass
The facility will be on your right after you pass Vernon College and Red River Valley Museum
From the West (Crowell/Plainview)
- Enter Vernon on U.S. 70
Stay on U.S. 70 (do not veer to the right on Wilbarger street)
The facility will be on your left approximately ¼ mile from the Wilbarger street "Y"
From the South (Seymour) or the North (Altus, OK)
- Enter Vernon on U.S. 183/283 (Main Street)
Continue until you reach U.S. 287 overpass (on the north side of town)
Merge onto U.S. 287 going to the west (toward Amarillo)
Exit at U.S. 70 (toward Crowell/Plainview)
Turn left off the overpass.
The facility will be on your right after you pass Vernon College and Red River Valley Museum

From U.S. 287 (Dallas/Ft. Worth/Amarillo) or I44 (Oklahoma City)
- Stay on U.S. 287 until you reach the Kell Blvd. (U.S. 82) exit
Exit west on Kell
Exit at Kemp Street
Turn south on Kemp street and continue past Sikes Senter Mall and Southwest Parkway
The facility will be on your left just after you pass the Lake Wichita dam
