2013 AMH Poetry Contest

In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, the Texas Department of State Health Services Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Texas and Mental Health America of Texas  held a statewide poetry contest open to adults with or in recovery from mental illness and their adult family members.

2014 marked the third year for the contest, with more than 100 poems submitted from all across Texas by adults living with and recovering from mental illness, their friends, and their families. Read poems from the 2013 contest » and read poems from the 2012 contest »

The contest judges -- which included representatives from NAMI Texas, Peer Support Services Staff, and DSHS staff -- would like to extend their sincere thanks to each poet who submitted their work for consideration in the 2014 contest, and we hope to read more of your work during next year’s contest.
