Texas Celebrates Recovery
September is Recovery Month!
Recovery Month inspires millions of people to share their stories of recovery and assist others who are struggling with substance use and mental disorders.
This year's theme is, "Join the Voices for Recovery: It's Worth It". The campaign promotes the societal benefits of prevention and treatment for mental and substance use disorders, celebrates people in recovery, lauds the contributions of treatment and service providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Many Recovery Month events are taking place in Texas and around the nation.
To access a wealth of Recovery Month resources, including the Recovery Month Toolkit please visit the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recovery month page at: http://www.recoverymonth.gov. You can also connect with SAMHSA’s Recovery Month activities and resources on Facebook and Twitter.
Texas Recovery Initiative
The purpose of the Texas Recovery Initiative (TRI) is to gather information and recommendations for designing protocols that implement holistic, recovery-oriented models of care for use within the behavioral health community. An essential characteristic of a recovery-oriented model is that it be based on an individualized, multi-disciplinary recovery plan that is developed in partnership with the person receiving these services and any others he or she identifies as supportive of this process. TRI meetings are open to the public, and behavioral health stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
