West Nile Season in Texas


DSHS urges people to take precautions to reduce the risk of contracting the mosquito-borne illness: drain standing water, make sure screens are in good condition, wear long sleeves and long pants outdoors when possible, and use an effective insect repellent. In 2014, there were 379 human cases of West Nile illness in Texas, including six deaths.
