News Release
September 15, 2006

Texas Department of State Health Services officials say that no human cases of E. coli O157:H7 infection associated with the consumption of bagged spinach have been reported in Texas at this time.

However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is recommending that people not consume bagged fresh spinach until more information is available from an investigation of a multi-state outbreak of E. coli illnesses preliminarily linked to bagged spinach.

It has not been determined if the suspect spinach was distributed in Texas.

More information is available online at www.fda.gov.
