News Release
October 31, 2006
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has withdrawn a consumption warning issued last week about ready-to-eat and smoked meat products from the Bellville Meat Market.
DSHS withdrew the warning after recent laboratory tests of samples from the market were negative for Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium.
Last week's warning was issued after the bacterium was detected in summer sausage in earlier tests done as part of a routine inspection.
The market is at 36 South Front St. in Bellville, about 60 miles northwest of Houston, in Austin County.
