Rio Grande State Center in Harlingen will temporarily suspend admissions at
10 p.m. today in anticipation of Tropical Storm Alex. The center’s residents and
patients will shelter in place at the facility.
Rio Grande State Center, 1401 Rangerville Road, will not accept new patients
until further notice.
The facility’s outpatient clinic and its services will close at 8 a.m.
Wednesday until further notice.
“Patient safety is our top priority as we respond to the storm,” said Sonia
Hernandez-Keeble, hospital superintendent. “We will continue to provide quality
psychiatric and clinical care to our patients and will resume new admissions as
soon as possible.”
