The Texas Department of State Health Services will conduct a community health assessment in Bastrop County this weekend. The community assessment will help identify the public health needs of
Bastrop County residents currently living where the wildfires occurred.
DSHS will survey selected households door-to-door this Saturday and Sunday about their public health needs. DSHS staff will carry credentials identifying themselves as state officials. A short questionnaire will include topics such as the availability and access to basic utilities and supplies, access to health services, current health status, access to relief aid and information, evacuation awareness, wildfire emergency preparedness plans, demographic information and mental health status.
The results of the survey will help local officials identify health and service needs and further assist target recovery efforts in Bastrop County. A report detailing the assessment results and public health recommendations will be provided to local officials before the end of the month.
