WHAT: 2011 Texas Red Ribbon Rally
WHEN: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011
WHERE: Texas State Capitol, South Steps
DETAILS: Nearly 1,000 fifth- and sixth-graders will meet at the State Capitol in advance of Red Ribbon Week, a
series of local and community events across the country aimed at helping students and parents understand the dangers of drug abuse. The students will
gather on the Capitol grounds and walk to the south steps for a rally that includes music and dance performances and a pledge to remain drug free. At
12:30 p.m. they will convene a mock legislative session in the Texas House and Senate chambers to pass resolutions targeting drug and alcohol abuse. Red
Ribbon Week is observed nationally Oct. 22-30.
