Environmental Epidemiology and Disease Registries Section

Loading...

The Environmental Epidemiology and Disease Registries Section is comprised of three branches:  Birth Defects Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch, Cancer Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch, and Environmental and Injury Epidemiology and Toxicology Branch.  This Section brings together all environmental epidemiology, toxicology, occupational disease, and injury surveillance and aligns them with those health registries that most commonly have an environmental health science focus. The cancer and birth defects registries often interact closely with environmental scientists to identify and investigate disease clusters that may be linked to environmental conditions. These two registries share similar operational systems and are the basis for extensive public health research. The trauma registry identifies patterns of injury which may be linked to environmental and other factors.
