Purpose

The Family Health Service Division within HSR 1 provides essential public health services related to women, infants, children, and adolescents. Services include health education, information, training, and statistical data to assist communities, providers, or private individuals in addressing maternal-child health concerns. A list of educational/training programs provided without charge for schools and community groups is available upon request.

Family Health services staff serve as consultants and regional points of contact for funded maternal child health grants, including Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Expanded Primary Health Care, Title V M&CH (child health/dental/prenatal), Breast and Cervical Cancer, Epilepsy Services, and County Indigent Health Care Program. Technical assistance and consultative services on maternal and child health service related issues are provided. Quality assurance activities through on site monitoring visits are conducted for entities contracted by the Department of State Health Services.

Quarterly literature reviews specific to women’s health and child health clinical services are available on the Health Service Region 1 website.
