Vision, Hearing and Speech Services - Public Health Region 11

Vision

Our vision is to help children reach their ultimate potential for success in life through efforts directed toward the early identification and assessment of vision and hearing problems.

Purpose

To provide educational workshops throughout Public Health Region 11 to different agency personnel that certifies them to do standardized vision and hearing screening, referral and follow-up to specialists, proper recording of screening results, and accurate reporting to the Texas Department of Health Central Office.

Activities

• To plan, develop, and schedule vision and hearing certification workshops throughout PHR 11 serving public, private, parochial, or denominational schools as well as childcare facilities in the region.
• To audit, evaluate, and monitor vision and hearing screening techniques used in the above settings.
