Public Health Preparedness Program

Vision Statement:

The Epidemiology program is a highly proactive team that responds rapidly and effectively to any infectious disease outbreak or act of bioterrorism in Department of State Health Services, Health Service Regions 2 & 3.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Epidemiology program is to promote the health and well-being of residents. This accomplished in several ways to include:

• Maintaining ongoing surveillance of current health status and disease trends in the region,
• Investigation of disease outbreaks in the region,
• Implementation of steps to control and prevent future disease outbreaks in the region, and
• Bioterrorism preparedness and emergency response planning.
