Mental Health and Substance Abuse Information Center
The Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division Information Center collection includes books, journals, and an extensive video collection that circulates to individuals within Texas to aid them with their instructional training and educational programs as well as providing information to Texas residents through the distribution of pamphlets, posters, and related materials.
Drug Demand Reduction Advisory Committee (DDRAC)
The 77th Texas Legislature (2001) passed Senate Bill 558 establishing the Drug Demand Reduction Advisory Committee (DDRAC) with a mandate to develop comprehensive statewide strategy and legislative recommendations that will reduce drug demand in Texas. The Statute mandates that 16 state agencies participate in this effort, as well as five at-large members from different geographical areas within the state.

Tobacco Prevention and Control
The mission of DSHS Tobacco Prevention and Control is to reduce the health effects and economic toll tobacco has placed on the citizens of Texas.
Medicaid Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Benefit
The 2009 Texas Legislature authorized a substance abuse benefit in Medicaid. The comprehensive Medicaid substance abuse treatment services include outpatient services (assessment, ambulatory (outpatient) detoxification, counseling, and medication assisted therapy), as well as residential services (treatment and detoxification).
