Sanitarian Registration Program Continuing Education - General Information

Registered Sanitarians must obtain no less than 12 continuing education contact hours related to the fields of sanitation, environmental health, or consumer health within twelve months preceding renewal of the registration for a one year term, or no less than 24 continuing education contact hours related to the fields of sanitation, environmental health, or consumer health within twenty-four months preceding renewal of the registration for a two year term.  The requirement for continuing education contact hours does not apply to registered sanitarians-in-training unless they renew, but will apply only after the sanitarians-in-training (SIT) upgrade to a sanitarian status. It is the responsibility of each sanitarian to keep copies of all certificates showing proof of completion of the required continuing education, and to produce them in the event of an audit.
