MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

Members are appointed by the Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services upon approval of the Executive Commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission.

Members serve four-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms.  A call for applications for membership is disseminated when there is a vacancy.  Those applicants meeting required criteria are sent to a review committee.  The review committee recommendations are sent to the Commissioner for approval.

CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP

It is required that all eight components of a coordinated school health program be represented by members of the Committee.  Additionally, consideration is given during the selection process that the membership reflects the geographic, ethnic, racial and gender diversity of our state, has a broad knowledge base, proven long term experience, world view skills, leadership abilities and a passion to carry out the TSHAC mission.  The criteria for membership is attached here:
