School Safety
The School Safety section will inspect school playground equipment in areas of the state without local Health Departments for compliance with the standards of the Health and Safety Code Chapter 756, subchapter E (See Statutes/Laws), which requires all playground equipment purchased with public funds to comply with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission's Handbook for Public Playground Safety. (Note: this is a large document [3.72 MB], so please wait for it to download).
Our inspectors use a modified version of the checklist at the back of the Handbook to determine compliance of the playground equipment. Please note that this is not a full, detailed inspection of the playground equipment.
