If you need help finding a doctor, dentist, or case manager, call toll-free 1-877-847-8377 (1-877-THSTEPS), Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.. Texas Health Steps will answer any questions you have about the services your child can get.

When is the right time for a Texas Health Steps checkup?
Texas Health Steps will send you a letter when your child is due for a medical or dental checkup.
Checkup ages:
- Babies and toddlers: 5 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, and 2, 2½, 3, 4, and 5 years.
- Older children: 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 years.
- Preteens, teens, and young adults: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 years.
Where can my child get a Texas Health Steps checkup?
Doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and dentists give Texas Health Steps checkups in clinics, private offices, and other places. For children with special health care needs, case managers (nurses or social workers) may visit clients at home to plan for special health care services. Who can get Texas Health Steps?
Babies, children, teens, and young adults from birth through 20 years of age who have Medicaid can get Texas Health Steps.
